Inspiring Learners - Autumn 1
Dear parents, carers and the whole trust community,
We’ve got there - first half-term of 2021/22 is done, and what a great half-term it’s been! There have been some big changes at both schools over the summer, but perhaps the most significant is the appointment of a full-time librarian at each school. Reading is one of our trust priorities*, and Miss Wagstaff and Miss Smith have already made a huge difference to the way that we’re approaching reading at both schools, and we’re all very excited to see continued impact from this. Coupled with this, we’ve put in an amazing new library in Tyntesfield, and revamped the Year 2 toilets and cloakroom - first steps towards improving the school buildings there.
It was amazing to see both school communities come together for some fundraising walking/running - with Bollin staff, children and parents all taking part in the 10k for 10k challenge, and four staff, parent and governor relay teams in the Manchester Marathon - an amazing way to raise lots of money for the schools.
It wouldn’t be a proper newsletter without mentioning Covid, and I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone for their continued efforts this half-term. These are still really difficult times, with school staff having to combine remote and in-person teaching, and school leaders continually revising and updating policies, risk assessments, and procedures, to respond to changing guidelines. Not forgetting parents and children as well, for continuing to act on the advice that we pass on, as well as that from other places. Once again, a huge thanks to everyone.
Finally, behind the scenes, trustees and governors have been working hard to create a new model of governance for the trust and schools. We’ve already carried out 1-to-1s with each governor and trustee, and are using those to inform our governance development programme. We also met with senior school leaders to discuss priorities for the year in each school, and find out more about the plans to continue to deliver an amazing educational experience for our children. We’ll be backing these up with school visits over the next few months, so if you see any of us (you can tell us by the pale blue lanyard), do feel free to stop us for a chat.
Have an amazing half-term break, and we’ll see you all in November.
